Time to Say Goodbye............

Sorry I've not been around to much the past week but on Tuesday my Darling Grandma passed away.
She has been very poorly in hospital for quite a while (which I posted about before).
Although we knew it would come I don't think it's ever not a shock when it does.
So I have found it hard to be my cheerful self this week.
Mum has been organising her funeral and there will be a service at the Church my Mum & Dad were married in & She will be remembered in the Church memorial garden, next to her best friend Peggy.
So we hope they can keep dancing, playing wist & putting the world to rights together up there.
Mum asked me for some memories of Grandma to be read out at the service, & would you know it but I had already started to write this post with my memories below.
So here are the memories I have of my darling Grandma.

My Memories of My Grandma
Washing me as a small child with Pears Soap
Covering me in Talcum Powder, especially between my toes
Knitting, the clickerty clack of knit one pearl two, knit one pearl two......
Her dressing table, soo neat with all her beauty products & jewelry laid out
Her wardrobe full of her beautiful dresses & matching shoes for her ballroom dancing
Her favourite nail polish, she always had perfect nails
Smelling of Ellnet Hairspray & floral perfume
Tea & biscuits in bed in the morning
Ice creams on the prom
Teaching me to play cards
Calling me Treasure
Tea, always in a cup & saucer
The love she had for her husband, her children, her grand children & great grand children.

I am going up to Mum & Dads at the end of next week, the funeral is a week on Monday.
Thanks for listening.

Good Enough To Eat......

The Sun has got its hat on hip hip hip hoary!!!
I think I might have over done it today which might be why I just feel asleep for the last 2 hours and I'm now blogging later that I wanted too.
I got up this morning to a little present from Pickle Cat of a Slow Worm (Head & a chunk of body) she brought it to me in the lounge, YUCK. I had to remove it with the aid of the oven gloves & a plastic tub!!!
Then looked really silly running down the garden with it at arms lenght in the tub in miss matched PJ's, the neighbour's must think I'm a right loon!!!
So then to the tip, as we massacred the front garden last night! I know Friday night I should have been relaxing but no I was outside with a fork digging up the garden that just seems to grow out of control the minute you turn your back, so its being shingled. Gav seems to think we are bringing the street down with our unruly front garden!! So 10 bags of green waste in a car all night did not make it smell too nice along with the heat!!

Here are some of the Budlia flowers I saved from the branches that were trimmed.
They look pretty in my fish bowl vase, don't they.
Then home to chill for a bit before my stint at the CS, will share my goodies tomorrow.
So what is good enough to eat about that I hear you say well look what the postie brought me this week.

Yes my Good Enough to Eat Swap Parcel arrived from Lisa (click here to see what I sent Lisa) this week and she really spoilt me.
Cup cake wrapping paper.
Beautiful Card & Cookie recipe - Gav want's me to make them asap, but I'm back on WW so will have to wait a while until temptation can't get the better of me.

So I think Lisa has really got to know me through my blog because everything she sent me was soo me.
Firstly Lisa and I sent each other the same cupcake plate, great minds think alike!
I also received a fab tin to match it, some lovely coasters, A fab cupcake timer which was actually on my must get list as my oven time has gone missing!!! The note book with strawberrys on is actually a mini version of my work note book, which is lovely.

She also made me some wonderful crocheted cupcakes, & sent Fair trade chocolate (which Gav has been munching) & a beautiful cupcake broach which I absolutely adore.

Thank you soo much Lisa I love it all.
So I must go & tend to the BBQ, as my tummy is rumbling.
Have a wonderful Sunny Sunday.

Simply Chic Giveaway

I don't know if you know, but I am a serial Stationary Addict!!!
I love a new note book & nearly always add one into swap parcels to share the love.
My pen pot at work is the most colourful in the office, I can't stand a boring Bic Biro & colourful files adorn my desk.
So when Cathy from "Simply Chic" approached me about a collaboration with her Stationary & Gift Boutique website I couldn't say no.

So here I am hosting a Giveaway for a wonderful Caroline Gardner A5 note book & pen from "Simply Chic".

Cathy also has very kindly said that if anyone places an order in May or June 2010 over £10 on the website they too will receive a Caroline Gardener Pen FREE with their order, all you need to do is quote Chez Sophie in the order details/extra detail to the merchant.

"Simply Chic" sells Emma Bridgewater, Orla Kiely, Caroline Gardner & lots more beautiful Stationary & gifts.
Cathy also very kindly sent me a Caroline Gardener Note Book & Pen which are now sitting on my night stand for those late night ideas which often pop into my head.

Edit:To enter the giveaway all you have to do is leave me a comment, I have had to remove Mr Linky as something was not working properly. Worry not those who left their names on Mr Linky I have noted them down and will add them into the drawenter your name & URL (URL = blogsite address - copy it from your toolbar & paste it into the box) in Mister Linky below.
If you fancy adding my giveaway button to your blog too that would be lovely, but no obligation.
I will draw the giveaway on Monday 31st May & Cathy will send you your gift direct from "Simply Chic".
I hope you all have a wonderful week.

Postie brought me some lovelies from some lovelies

Last Wednesday I fell through the front door, well actually I got stopped in the drive by Gav!!!
Who pointed at the truck load of logs that had been deposited on our driveway during the day, & said "We need to stack these now encase it rains "
To which I replied "My hairdresser is coming over in half an hour to cut our hair!!! how will get all these stacked before she arrived?????"
"We best get started now!! Go and put your wellies on!"
So I then fell through the door & dropped my bags on the floor & what did I see out of the corner of my eye? But 2 parcels for me on the coffee table. Oh, oh, oh I have to stack logs!
Parcels will have to wait.
So I stacked logs until the hairdresser arrived, then I had my hair cut by which time Gav had done the rest.
He then had a hair cut, then we had dinner finally then I turned to the parcels sat on the coffee table & Opened the little one first.
Inside was a little bundle of lovely CK goodies from Victoria & Kelly for my birthday.
Thank you girlie's, you know me too well!!!

I have been converting the jam pot cover set in the new catalogue since it arrived and seriously thought it would be my next purchase on visiting the Brighton treasure trove that is all Cath.

I then turned my attention to the other larger parcel, now I have had to learn over the past year that when a swap parcel arrives, you have to open it carefully & then photograph each step of the opening of said gift.
So I treat myself to ripping the brown paper or jiffy bag open like it's Christmas!
Then I open and photograph as I said above.
I had a wonderful Fabric Swap parcel from Catherine of "Kids & Capers"

I received a gorgeous handmade card, some beautiful Tilda Buttons, 3 pretty fat quarters, some lovely embroidery thread, a fabulous sewing magazine, some bright pink Ric rack & a hand made note pad all wrapped in a wonderful handmade Handbag by Catherine.
Oh how I was speechless as I opened each & every gift.
Thank you Catherine, I have posted your parcel today I hope you like your goodies.
So after my busy day at work, my log stacking, my hair cut & dinner it was a lovely way to end the day.
I hope your week is going well, I just watched David Cameron become the prime minister and now I going to watch Heston work his magic in his 80's cooking show.

Pink Window Display

Another Gloomy Grey Cold weekend here again!!!
But I still had a lovely time.
Yesterday I worked at the CS and dressed the window.
Before I dress the window I wonder around the shop and see what lovely stuff we've had in during the week.
I then start collecting pieces, I start with clothes as I have 4 mannequins to dress, I man & 3 women.
This week I chose a pink theme.
I also decided that we don't display some of the lovely children's clothes enough so I incorporated them in to the display.
I would love to have more props & a backdrop so I could do some different things but I have to make do with what we have. I have taken pieces out of the shop and now deemed them Window props not to be sold, like the little book shelf. It's great for displaying china tea sets & books.
So my window consisted of pink pink pink.
Here it is.

2 beautiful dresses.
I had to remove the long dress twice on Saturday as people wanted to try it on.
I'm sure it will be gone by next week
Lovely shoes & a tower of accessories.

Here I have a casual man with jeans, white shirt & cord blazer.
We had this wonderful prom gown brought in & as its nearly prom season I thought it should go in.
A tower of the prettiest little girls dresses only £1.50 each, bargain.
Shelves with lovely vintage china.

A vintage sewing box with some funny slippers & dressing table jars.

& finally a closer look at my accessories tower, hopefully this will show that we have some wonderful things for sale.
I hope you all had a lovely weekend, I have been busy with swap's and I'm nearly ready to post a couple of them.
So back to work tomorrow, where do the weekends go??
Have a lovely week.

Back to Blogging

Although I have somewhat been away, I have still been around checking all your wonderful blogs out.
I have missed my blogging, and although things are still not good, I feel I need to get back to blogging.
So I thought I would tell you about my bank holiday weekend so far & show you my wonderful giveaway gift from Little Gem which I am long overdue in doing.
Yesterday Gav & I popped into town, both with slightly fuzzy heads due to my sister coming to stay on Friday night!!!
We made a be line for our favourite shop, TKMAX.
Here are my buys.

Some fabby Converse All Stars covered in Raspberry's, Gav said they could be CK as the print is soo pretty. There not but they do hold her style well.

I also had to have the thermos flask with the roses on, and what a bargain at £3.99!!!
I worked at the CS in the afternoon, re dressed the window with a kitchenalia theme, sorry no pictures.
Today has rained, and rained and rained..... which has meant no fun in the garden for me, but the veggies & plants are loving it. The peas, carrots & beetroot are all starting to poke through the ground.
My loan Tulip did look pretty though, covered in little droplets of rain.

The rain did give me an excuse to though to sit in my sewing room, making lovelies for my "Good enough to Eat" Swap partner Lisa @ Vintage Girl. I even sang along to the top 40, as best I could, lol.
I have been a rubbish blogger and have not thanked Gemma of Little Gems World for the wonderful giveaway parcel I received in the post well lets say at least a couple of weeks ago!!
I won her giveaway in a bag & here is what arived.

Thank you Little Gem I love it, the hair clips match my new shoes above perfectly and the hexagon broach will be adorning my bag shortly & I think it's crafty contentse will come in very handy with all the swaps I have entered lately.
So lets hope the sun shines tomorrow as Gav bought a new BBQ on Friday which he is desperate to try out!!
Have a lovely bank holiday Monday.
