A Theatrical Event

Well I continued my social butterfly activities on Wednesday night.
My MIL treated me & the family to a trip to Chichester Festival Theatre, to see the Calendar Girls.

Friends of there’s had come to stay and are related to one of the actress who is in the show.

You may know her?
Gemma Atkinson, she has stared in Hollyoaks & much more.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the show.
It’s a great adaptation of the Film and the cast were amazing, they captured it soo well.
Afterwards we got to meet Gemma and some of the other cast members at the after show drinks party.
I have to say I was quite star struck!! The experience was quite surreal.
I did get an autograph from Gemma for Gav! In the program, so he was happy.

Well I must go, I have my first volunteering session at the local Charity Shop at 1pm, wish me luck.

London Calling

My week was planned out nicely, only one outing in the diary until..........
The phone rang, and Gemma said
“If I can get tickets to go Ice Skating at Sommerset House tomorrow evening!!! Do you want to go???"
Then the phone went dead!!!
Hello!
Well I say, ask a stupid question!! Of course I want to go.
So I sheepishly asked for a half day, the boss man he say yes.
So I picked up my coat at 1.45pm on Tuesday and tootled out the office door, to the train station.
Trained it up to town, with plenty of magazines to read Trash & Interior's, of course.
I had time to pop in to Liberties, where I saw this beauty.
A bit out of my price range but beautiful.

Then I met my little sister, and we popped to John Lewis. Which I have to say was quite disappointing, not the haberdashery department that it was!
And then the race was on to get to Sommerset House.
The Winter Olympics was being launched at Sommerset House by Adidas, So no Tiffany’s I'm afraid but the giant UJ made up for it.

Now when I said "Of course I want to go" that didn't necessarily mean the skating part!!!
But some how I was dragged onto the Ice, by Gemma & Lil Sis.
I made it round 3 times, with more confidence on each circuit.

It was great fun, with a great atmosphere, everyone was having fun.
We made a little trip to Primark for a few essentials.
Then back to Victoria on the Bus, which is very novel as I normally get the tube everywhere in London.
We got back home late, which isn't good for a school night, but what’s a girl to do??
Wear more concealer to work the next day, was the plan.
More from my week tomorrow, Wednesday was equally exciting.
Not sure what I've done to be having all this fun, but it’s been good so far.

Poorly Mini.................

Have you ever had something you love, break?
Have you ever not loved it as much because it is broken?
When your pride & joy cost's you the price of a luxury holiday to some far flung place, with cocktails & massages & chocolates on the pillow.
Well I finally feel that I can write about poorly Mini, it has taken me 4 days to do so.
She had some warning lights come on last week in the snow, they looked angry so I phoned the mechanics and they said bring her to us now!
She had some diagnostic work done and she had a majour problem with her internal computer.
Friday afternoon was not good for me, apparently I went pale whilst on the phone to the garage.
This problem is what has cost me the price of a luxury holiday.
So all in all, I am missing my Mini, my side kick, my wheels......
And although she has cost me a small fortune to fix she is mine and will hopefully live a lot longer when she is fixed.
Sorry to whitter on, I know it's not a life or death situation but I had to let you know.
I do still love my car despite her cost, she is my freedom, my independance, my shopping buddy.
(although maby no shopping for a while??)
Hope your having a good week & that nothing breaks for you.

Chilly Weekend Brrrrrrrrrr

Oh what a chilly weekend it has been.
The snow is still here and it keeps coming in fits and starts.
I know we are all a little over it now, kids off school, can't get to work, frozen pipes etc, but it is beautiful isn't it?
And it has been said that it hasn't been this cold & snowy in England since the year I was born 1981.
So it is special if you have never experienced snow like this before.
I have always enjoyed the snow as skiing in Austria was an anual holiday as a child for me.

I'm in Blue my sister Olivia is in pink

Yes I am trying to be positive about it, and remeber to good times!!!

Yesterday although it was snowing I decided to venture into town, I have to say that apart from Minni's doors freezing on Thursday it has been the best car ever in the snow.

I had a good time in town, I met up with my friend Alison & her daughter Milly for a coffee at the newly refurbished St Paul's church hall. They are hoping to have some Mum's Marketplace events their and we wanted to see what it was like. Its a really fabby venue they even have a proper coffee shops which serves Lattes, mmmmmmmmmmm.

I won 3 prizes on the tombola (more chocolates NOOOOOOO) but I did give Milly the art set and Allie the huge box of Maltesers so she could make some brownies for work next week.
I then popped of to Wilkinson's for some essential, cat treats, new work note books and toiletries.
I did however spy this beauty, a lovely baby pink thermos flask. I have been needing a flask for craft fairs and this one fits the bill, although if we have them at St Paul's I can have a Latte, mmm.

I also went to WHSmiths in search of the new Crochet mag that has been advertised on the TV. I can crochet but only granny squares so I thought I would get it and see what it was like. As it is the first issue it was a bargain at 99p.

I was also looking for a pretty diary, I really want a CK one but they are few & far between.

I think I will have to buy a boring one and cover it in CK fabric or wrapping paper to satisfy my need.
I also got some of those suede fur lined boots, you know the ones! not the stupidly expensive Australian ones but a version of, I found them in TK's so bargain.
Whilst in TK's Gav phoned asking for salopets!! he had decided to go snow boarding on the downs. Luckily they fitted and he came home in one piece.
Today has been a PJ day for me, I think I'm fighting a bug. So I have slept an am now sitting in front of this roaring fire, cosy and warm.

I have to sign off now as I am waiting for the new series of Larks Rise to Candleford to start 8pm tonight BBC1.

Enjoy your week all.

Cabin Fever!!!!

I am having a love hate relationship with the Snow at the moment.
I love the way it makes my garden look,

I love the way the kittens are intrigued buy it,

I love the way it crunches under foot,

I hate that it stopped me going to work today,
I hate the way the country stops for it,
I hate that it made my poor Mini soo frozen that the doors didn't defrost until midday.
Phewwwwwwwwww, sorry needed to do that.
I have had cabin fever today!
I have been sat at my laptop today with my work email on trying to carry on as normal and do some work.
I have loved the holidays but I think my brain needs some stimulation as cosy days in, with the fire, too much food & TV have taken there tole.
I also think I needed people to talk to, Gav managed to get to work so I was home alone and I'm not sure if talking to myself is a good thing?
Isn't it the first sign of madness???

I did however notice when making what seemed my hundredth cup of tea that the daffodils my Mum bought me at Christmas have started to flower on my window sill.

How bizarre, sub zero temperatures out side and daffodils flowering inside.
Well lets hope that Mini doesn't freeze tomorrow as I have lots to do at work.
Hope your all coping with the weather,
Thanks for letting me rant.
